Thousands of people read their horoscopes on a daily basis, and allow
these demonic influences to lead and guide their daily lives. Others find
their answers in astrologers, fortunetellers, magicians, witchcraft, ouiji
boards, tarot cards, and other games. Is this what God has ordained for
us to do? What do the Scriptures say about occult activity?
Deut. 18: 9-12 - "When you come into the land which the Lord your God is
giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those
nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or
his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a
soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who
conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the
dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and
because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from
before you."
The word of God makes it perfectly clear that those who practice these
types of activities are an abomination unto Him. God commands Christians,
to "not give place" to the devil. When we allow demonic books, games,
music, and videos into our homes, we are giving place to the devil. When
we neglect what the word of God teaches and seek after other gods and
practices, we are opening ourselves up to demonic oppression and
possession.
When will the church wake up and realize that we have been compromising
with the devil? When will we ever learn that we must stand up for
holiness and righteousness and declare the works of God to a lost and
dying world? Will the body of Christ ever rise up to its full potential
in God? Will our eyes ever be opened to see, in the realm of the Spirit,
those things, which we've never seen before?
Is it possible that someday there will be a true revival of holiness and
godly living that will take us to the streets of our cities and cause us
to shout from the housetops that Jesus Christ is the "only way?"
May God have mercy on us for going our own way and doing our own thing.
May God move upon the church and cause us to respond to His prompting and
His voice.
WHAT IS THE OCCULT?
The term "occult" is derived from the Latin word occultus, which means to
cover up, to hide, hidden or secret.
Every form of occult activity is demonic in origin. Each form has it's
own subtle enticements which are capable of leading one to death,
deception, and destruction.
What are some of the different forms of occult activity today?
THERE ARE BASICALLY THREE TYPES OF OCCULTISM:
1) Psychics: These types of people attempt to supernaturally gain hidden
knowledge (often about the future) through psychic readings and various
other props. These include Astrology and fortune telling (using palms,
tea leaves, crystal balls, Tarot cards, etc.).
2) Neo-Pagans: These groups believe in animism (living spirits in
inanimate objects and plants), and the worship of self, earth, or an all
encompassing "Mother Goddess." Other practices and forms include WICCA,
witchcraft, magic, and shamanism.
Wicca is the Celtic word for "wise." Wiccans believe in reincarnation.
They do not fear God and they do not believe in Satan. Most neo-pagan
groups do not claim to worship or believe in Satan. This may seem
startling to some, but it's true.
There are an estimated 3-5 million Wiccans in existence today.
3) Spiritism: An attempt to contact or communicate with a spirit entity or deceased person (necromancy). These include trance mediums, New Age channeling, ouiji boards, seances, etc.
1 Tim. 4:1 - "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times
some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and
doctrines of devils."
There is so much that can be written on the occult and witchcraft. I have
only scratched the surface of this particular subject. I pray that this
article will stir us up and cause us to understand the tactics of the
enemy in a greater way. I pray that our eyes will be opened and our
hearts receptive to the knowledge of God.
The church is about ready to step into a greater fullness of God's glory
and purposes. We must not allow any attempt of the enemy to hinder us
from what God is about to do.
Let's not be deceived and seduced by the onslaught of occultic
infiltration that has saturated this nation. Let's ask the Holy Spirit
for discernment to expose it and cast it out in the name of Jesus.
If you've been involved in the occult or witchcraft, there is hope for your deliverance. Renounce your affiliation with it, and receive God's forgiveness. He is well able to cleanse you and make you whole.
There is a definite increase of deception and occultic activity being
unleashed in the world today. It is estimated that 10 million Americans
are addicted to some form of occultism. People are searching for answers
to their questions and dissatisfaction with life. They are running to and
fro seeking for something that will make them have a sense of well being
and accomplishment.
